i was called out.

Angie D. Amador, you called me out for our next project.
I really enjoyed reading all of ya'llz explanations. Really really really what's really good. Although I have not received all of your soundtracks yet ::cough:: Jill Derrick Meechy ::cough:: I am looking forward to it.

As for the next project, my original idea was a cd consisting of your favorite childhood songs. Well, sorry if anyone really wanted to do that next, but you guys can do it on your turn because I'm changing my idea!! So, in light of the holiday season approaching the next project will be your favorite holiday album, preferably Christmas! Now it can be your favorite album, or a mix of your favorite holiday songs. Whatever you would like!

The rules? There ARE no rules!! At least I don't think there are. So, I say this should be due at the end of November! Specifically, 10th week potluck (November 29)!! Sound good? Any objections? Let me know!!

WOO HOO FOR MUSIC!

Soundtrack of My Life

Wow, this took forever, but here it is, in it's entirety: Medium Pimpin': The Life and Times of Angie A. Just like the majority of you all, I wanted to change a lot of the songs after I burned all the cds and started writing descriptions for each song. Man, there's so many songs I could've used for the soundtrack of my life...all good, though! Most of these songs are dear to my heart...hope you enjoy :D

Opening Credits: "September" - EWF

I was born one day before the day they celebrate in this song. I love this song...great opener!

Waking-Up Scene: "Gotta Get Up (Another Day)" - Jill Scott
Back in the days when I had my massive Aiwa stereo system, I programmed it to play this song when I woke up in the morning. "I don't want to go to work today, I'd rather stay home and play video games, I wanna chill." YES!

Spring Scene: "Miles Ahead" - Miles Davis
This song brings back feelings of nostalgia for my freshman year. A couple dorm buddies and I took History of Jazz our freshman year and I remember the first time I heard this song, I was hooked on Miles for life. And though we took the class during winter quarter, I still associate it with the spring just because I remember listening to it almost everyday for the rest of my freshman year.

Average-Day Scene: "In the Flesh" - Jurassic 5
Man, Jurassic 5 brings me back to my early high school days, when I was just an average Ang. I first heard J5, my freshman year of high school on the Cali Kings mixtape and I was hooked. I burned a hole in my cd deck 'cause I listened to them everyday. Extraordinary song for an ordinary day.

Best-Friend Scene: "The Light" - Common
My best friend, Dee, and I love Common. I love this song, she loves this song. One valentine, I gave her a sun-shaped construction paper with "Granted we've known each other a long time/It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine" on it...she cried.

First-Date Scene: "Top of the World" - The Juliana Theory

I've never been on a date-date. When I do though, I'll put a paper in my pocket that says "You can take me anywhere."

Falling-In-Love Scene: "Find a Way" - A Tribe Called Quest
I'm an ol' skoo hip hop head. Tribe all the way. And though this is some relatively new Tribe, I luh it. "Messin' me up my whole head/Teasin' me just like Tisha did Martin, now look at what you startin'/School boy crush and it ain't on the hush/The whole world see it but you can't..." Yup, fallin' in love, yo (especially when that bassline drops...woooo).

Love Scene: "The Sweetest Thing" - Lauryn Hill
The sweetest thing I ever known is this song. Love the bass line, the guitar, plus, L-Boogie had to be in my soundtrack somewhere.

High Scene: "93 'til Infinity" - Souls of Mischief
The first 18 seconds of this song, with Tajai speaking over the keys: pure sublimity. 'Nuff said.

Hook up Scene: "Any Time, Any Place" - Janet Jackson
This song is nasty. I love it. Especially in the rain.

Sex Scene: "In a Sentimental Mood" - John Coltrane & Duke Ellington

Classy. Sexy. None of that hardcore porno music. Yuck.

Summer Scene: "On My Mind" - Donovan Frankenreiter

Donovan is the man! I like this song because I can play along to it. Good chill music for beach season.

Fight-With-Friend Scene: "Collide" - Howie Day
There's a lot of sentimental value attached to this song. It reminds me of a time when a couple of friends and I were going through some really rough times. Actually, when I hear this song, the line "Even the best fall down sometimes" just gets to me. That line and the 2nd verse...yeah, too much...it brings me straight back to that time.

Break Up Scene: "Green Eyes" - Erykah Badu

If you haven't heard this song in its entirety, you need to sit down and listen to it. The song is composed of three movements: Movement I: Denial, Movement II: Acceptance, and Movement III: Relapse. The emotion in her voice: the bitterness, the desperation, the denial, the defeat--Badu captures the essence of the break up wholly. FYI, she wrote this song after her break up with André 3000. Yup, good stuff.

Get-Back-Together Scene: "Let's Stay Together" - Al Green

"Lettttttt's, letttt's stay togeeettthhhhhherrrr." OK!

'Life's Okay' Scene: "I Won't Spend Another Night Alone" - The Ataris

Once again, another song that reminds me of high school. I used to listen to this kind of music and be sad about not getting with the love of my life. That's back in the day when life was just "okay".

Fall Scene: "October Sky" - Javier

Good fall song. It makes me want to take a park through Central Park in the middle of October after I just broke up with my fiancé or something.

Heartbreak Scene: "I Can't Make You Love Me" - Bonnie Raitt

Man, this song is good. So sad, so good. I remember liking this song when it first came out...yeah, that was when I was like 8 when I didn't even know what heartbreak meant. But yeah, a classic heartbreak scene for an unrequited love: "I can't make your heart feel something it don't..."

Mental-Breakdown Scene: "Trouble" - Coldplay
This song always reminds me of the drive home on Bastenchury (spelling?) coming from SOL's Youth Rally my second year of college. I just remember driving in my Accord with the windows down and contemplating along the dark road. Second year was tough for me, therefore I award the mental-breakdown scene to my second year!

Driving Scene: "She Lives in My Lap" - André 3000

I commuted from Buena Park my second year and there are two albums I will forever associate with my commutes to and from UCI: Jay-Z's The Black Album and OutKast's Speakerboxx/The Love Below. This is one of the songs I would bump at night, speeding down the 5 southbound on the way to see the homies.

Winter Scene: " St. Patrick's Day" - John Mayer
This songs reminds me of all things winter: pea coats and peppermint white chocolate mochas, Christmas lights, and long nights. Just a good song for a good season in my life.

Lesson-Learning Scene: "Gavin's Song" - Marc Broussard

"Be good for your momma/Cuz she'll need a hand to hold/Boy she loves you/More than you'll ever know" I love this song. Marc Broussard has a lot of emotion in his voice--a gritty passion, raw and tender-hearted. And this line is awesome: "I wish you heartache that leaves you more of a man" and basically all the verses paint the lessons an away-from-home dad would want to teach his son. Very good.

Falling Asleep Scene: "The Long Day is Over" - Norah Jones
I love me some Norah...especially when laying in bed, while it's raining outside, lights off, vanilla candles lit, about to go to sleep. So relaxin'...I'm surprised at myself for actually not putting "One Flight Down" which is my favorite Norah song, but I recently just discovered how good a song this one is.

Deep-Thought Scene: "Resolution" John Coltrane

A Love Supreme always gets to me. Whenever I write poetry, I put on this album. When he comes in and just blows...wow. Get on the Col-trane y'all....good ish.

Flashback Scene: "The Background" - Third Eye Blind

This is a freakin' sad song. My roomie, Lisa, from freshman year agreed on this album, specifically this song. I like this song...the guitar lick at the beginning...yeah. Also, this song flashes me back to the engagement drama when I drove to San Clemente at 5:44 in the morning by myself.

Party Scene: "Vivrant Thing" - Q-Tip
"It's the A-N-G-to the Edouble A, rockin the M-I-C for the OXNARD, C-A" How gay is that? SUPER. But this was the first beat I freestyled over at a house party. Good memories. The BFA boys talked to me after and from then on it was history. BANNED FRUM AZIA!!

Regret Scene: "Ordinary Pain" - Stevie Wonder

I seriously had to put some Stevie up in here somewhere. I like this song...the man's perspective and woman's perspective. Yeheyyy!

Happy-Dance Scene: Joints and Jams - Black Eyed Peas

Have you guys seen the video to this? You know how at the end they were dancing all crazy? Well I remember my friends and I would try to dance like that...you can imagine how that looked. Good memories, this song. Oh yeah, it also reminds me of all the old school "hawtees" (as in hotties) on my high school All-Male Dance Team.

Long-Night-Alone Scene: "Sometimes" - Bilal
"This is a song that makes me spill out all my guts" Exactly. Signature ?uesto drum sound, introspective lyrics, good range...and this line makes it my long-night-alone scene: "I wish I wasn't me...sometimes."

Spiritual Scene: "Love" - Musiq
I like this song a lot. When I first heard it, something just clicked in my head and I said "This is a God song." Since I can remember my theological train of thought is "God is love. Love is God." Throughout this whole song you can replace every instance of the word "love" with "Lord" and the song will still make perfect sense--if not even better.

Closing Credits: "Off the Wall" - Michael Jackson
Wacko Jacko is the man. I couldn't choose between all the million of his hits, so I picked this one because I think it's a fun closer...one that doesn't provide a full sense of closure, but instead a kind of joyful hope until next time...

So, Keerzy B. Ascio, what's next?

just me...

Okay, so here goes my soundtrack of life. Some of the explanations to why I chose the songs are really dumb because I couldn't really think of what to write. And, if you know me, most of my songs are sappy and slow. Oh well.

--------------------------------

Opening Credits: “How Deep Is Your Love?” – The BeeGees…because they’re the BeeGees! I love them and this song! And I like the beat to it and how you can totally sing to it. Actually, I think I put this on here for the sake of having a BeeGees song.

Waking-Up Scene: “Serenade” – Shades… because this is the first song I listen to when I get to my computer. I don’t know why. And, it’s also the song I used to wake up to before, so therefore, it’s my song for this scene. Plus, I like how it sounds.

Spring Scene: “Wouldn’t It Be Nice?’ – The Beach Boys…because it just has that feeling of the beginning of Spring and it evokes the carefree feeling I have at the end of the school year

Average-Day Scene: "Home” – Michael Buble … because, as corny as this sounds, on most days, despite what goes on in my life, sometimes “I just want to go home…”

Best-Friend Scene: “When You Say Nothing at All” – Ronan Keating… because I think with best friends, there’s just that quiet understanding with one another—that it is in those quiet times when you are totally comfortable with one another that the relationships deepens and strengthens

First-Date Scene: “So Into You” – Tamia… because this song just has that first date (but not really) vibe for me. The lyrics talk more about past the first date, but it’s all good.

Falling-In-Love Scene: "Make Me Whole” – Amel Larrieux
… because that’s ultimately what you want to feel when you fall in love.

Love Scene: "By Your Side" – Sade … because it’s just that good.

High Scene: “Feelin’ It” – Jay-Z… because you’re simply “feelin’ it” when you’re high on life like that.

Hook up Scene: “Part Time Lovers” – Stevie Wonder… because although the whole sneaking around and cheating thing is not cool, you’re still hookin’ it up. And also, it just shows that two can play that game, not that I would ever play it. Haha. Oh yes, it was between this and “Secret Lovers” and both are about cheating. Yeah, I don’t know.

Sex Scene: "Give It to Me While It’s Hot” – TLC… because with lyrics like “Don’t answer the telephone, shut the windows, lock all the doors, need no interruptions now, something’s ‘bout to be goin’ down”, how can it not be a sex song?

Summer Scene: “Your Love (L.O.V.E. Reggae Mix)” – Wyclef Jean feat. Eve… because this song just has a good summer-like beat. Carefree and whatnot.

Fight-With-Friend Scene: “I’ll Be Around” – The Spinners… because even though this is more of a “break up” song in a sense, I think this is ultimately how I feel when I’m in a fight with a friend. Despite drama or ongoings, I try to let them know that in the end, I’ll still be there for them. Oh, and also, this was a main theme song in one of my biggest friendship fights/misunderstandings, so I’m always reminded of that when I hear this song. Ha.

Break Up Scene: “Don’t Speak” – No Doubt… because listen to the lyrics, they’re so fitting. And also, if you know me, I need a No Doubt song in here.

Get-Back-Together Scene: "Better Together” – Jack Johnson … because it is always better when we’re together.

'Life's Okay' Scene: “Refuge (When It’s Cold Outside)” – John Legend
… just because.

Fall Scene: “You and Me” – Lifehouse… because their music always makes me feel like it’s Fall. When I listen to this, I imagine sitting on a park bench watching the leaves on trees change colors from green to the orange, tan, fall-ish colors they become. Lame, I know.

Heartbreak Scene: "One Last Cry" - Brian McKnight
… because it’s so sad and my heart does break when I hear this song because you can feel the pain in the lyrics. And plus, I had to have a Brian McKnight song in here.

Mental-Breakdown Scene: “I Feel So” Boxcar Racer … because for some reason this is the song I always play when I’m feeling a little heated and aggravated. I think seeing them live and how Travis was all hardcore on the drums made me want to release some aggression. HAHA.

Driving Scene: “Back to You” – John Mayer… because it is a song I could just listen to while driving. I like listening to acoustic stuff when driving. And it’s not too mellow.

Winter Scene: “Once Upon a December” – from “Anastasia” Soundtrack… because this song fits well for the scene

Lesson-Learning Scene: “Superman” – Five for Fighting… because I think the lyrics are fitting for this. We’re all just people and sometimes people expect a lot out of us, but sometimes those expectations can take a lot from us and it isn’t easy.

Falling Asleep Scene: “Amie” – Damien Rice … because it’s so slow and mellow that I could listen to it and just sleep. And, all his songs are so sad that I’d want to fall asleep.

Deep-Thought Scene: “Can’t Take That Away (Mariah’s Theme)” – Mariah Carey… because when things get tough and I feel like everything in my life is going crazy and end up thinking way too much, I listen to this song and realize that I have to have faith in what He has in store for me, and that I can’t give up.

Flashback Scene: “The Journey” – Lea Salonga… because this song is perfect for this scene

Party Scene: "Only You (Remix)” – 112 feat. Notorious B.I.G. and Mase … because every time I hear this song, I’m brought back to a happy party a long time ago. And it’s just a fun song to party to.

Regret Scene: "So Many Things” – City High … because in life, there are many things that we fail to do and that we regret. There are things we don’t say or ask and we often lose the chance to do so.

Happy-Dance Scene: “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” – Toploader… because it’s got a nice but mellow beat that you could totally dance to.

Long-Night-Alone Scene: “All At Once” – Whitney Houston… because I love her old stuff and I think on a long night alone you think about a lot of things and “all at once” you have these realizations about life. It’s a little on the sad side, but that’s me when it’s a long night alone. Wow, sad.

Spiritual Scene: "Flower in the Rain” – Jaci Velasquez… because this was the song I used for my KAIROS talk, and hearing this song always brings me back to that moment of vulnerability and strength again.

Closing Credits: “Seasons of Love” – RENT … because I like this song and musical a lot, and I feel that at the end of it all, I want be able to measure my life in love.

Okay that's all. Bye my loves.

the original soundtrack to...

I doubled up on a few scenes to fill up both cd's... this is a lotta music.

1. Opening Credits: "I'll Fly Away" - Kanye West: This has a gospel feel to it. "when I die, Hallelujah by and by..." I think this was the first song that stuck with me when I listened to Kanye's album. Makes you want to sing along with it.

2. Waking-Up Scene: "Wake Up" - Rage Against the Machine: When this song hits at the end of The Matrix, it hits. I was thinking of using "Simon Says" - Pharoahe Monch because that's what my old roommate would play in the morning so I'd wake up, but a song more incoherent would have been more appropriate, at least for my college years. The tone of the song fits though--determined and edgy--just right for when you finally stop hitting the snooze button.

3. Spring Scene: "Victory is Won" - Santana: I first heard this when my brother was playing it. No words, but man, the organ, guitar, and the drums make such a good sound together, especially at the climax, it's like there are fireworks going off (as Mel says). Sounds triumphant, like the ice finally melted away.

4. Average-Day Scene: "If I May" - Blackalicious: "Here we go again..." I haven't memorized this song or anything, but it's a chill cut, any the lyrics are the truf. "When God is present in your life than you can come reap on, And ain't a storm that you can't weather, You got a purpose you was born to create, Destiny is waitin' for you"

5. Best-Friend Scene: "So Many Things" - City High : It's more on the sad side, but the chorus is soooo good. I wouldn't expect anything less from that kid from Sister Act 2. Really soulful.

6. First-Date Scene: "Q, Mike, Slim, Daron" - 112: Strange title, but one of my favorite interludes from any album. I wonder how many people knew this track before Modern used it a few years ago. Nothing over the top, it's more on the low key tip.

7. Falling-In-Love Scene: "Feelin Me, Feelin You" - Alicia Keys: Another interlude. The guitar up high with the keyboard down low... Alicia's voice comes in and just lingers in the air for a moment. "Two hour long conversations on the phone, can't get you out of my mind"

8. Love Scene: "Love Ballad" - L.T.D. : One of the first songs I heard listening to internet radio back in Chino this summer. Absolutely classic. It's got violins. Yaz (jazz) guitar. Game over. "What we had is much more than they could see"

9. High Scene: "Vibrate" - Andre 3000: Listen to this one in the dark... or driving alone... I played it on the way to a PUSO retreat and Mark E. and Mel Aguas told me this would be a song to listen to if I were high. That stopwatch sound in the background keeps it moving.

10. Hook up Scene: "Bump N Grind" - R Kelly: Now I think of that scene from "Without a Paddle" when I hear this, but it also reminds me of the whole freaky R&B era. Man, those early 90s. "Hook up" had a different meaning at the time of this song though.

11. Sex Scene (2 songs): "What Dreams Are Made Of" - (Paolo and Isabella) & "Moments in Love" - Art of Noise: I'm dead serious. Ok, just kidding. But not really. This is what dreams are made of. Hey, I got it from someone else's comp. But "Moments in Love" is fitting without feeling overtly raunchy or anything. This song spawned some weird remixes though.

12. Summer Scene (2 songs): "I'll Be Ready" - Baywatch Theme & "Amber" - 311: The first song speaks for itself. "I'll be raaarrree!!!!!" "Amber" reminds me of the beach. Oh, the beach. The snare sounds so good.

13. Fight-With-Friend Scene : "Unforgiven" - Metallica: I already burned my first CD with "Unforgiven", but went through my collection again and really wanted to replace it with "Shape of My Heart" - Sting. If you watched the end scene of "The Professional" (aka "Leon"), then you'd see. One of my all time favorites. "That's not the shape of my heart..." Too late to go back though.

14. Break Up Scene: "WTH>You" - Linkin Park: A lot of "purists" knock Linkin Park, but this track is awesome. Chester's vocals are still very melodic even when he's screaming. It's nice and angry and they don't even have to curse. "No, I’m not upset, No, I’m not angry, I know love is love, Love and sometimes it pains me"

15. Get-Back-Together Scene: "On Your Side" - Pete Yorn: Another track I got into after my brother played it. I played it a lot June of last year. The lyrics are somewhat contradictory, but such is the nature of getting back together. "And I listen, Yeah I listen, Can you listen?, Now I’m listening". The snare pulls it all together for me.

16. 'Life's Okay' Scene: "Make You Feel That Way" - Blackalicious: When I play this in the car it mellows me out (not the negative connotation, the positive one). "just chillin... it's love... it's love". Puts me in a good mood.

17. Fall Scene: "U Got Me" - The Roots, Erykah Badu: When I first heard this, I loved it, but for some reason I stopped liking it. That is, until this year. Hard to explain, but the sound and Badu's voice on the chorus fit the dynamic of fall. Think falling leaves and chill breezes. Things are changing all around, but "baby, don't worry, you know that you got me". Bass. Drums. Hot (in a autumn sort of way).

18. Heartbreak Scene: "Lately" - Jodeci (MTV unplugged version): Used to be my all time favorite, but still in my top 3. K-Ci and JoJo at their best, their take on a Stevie Wonder classic (he's a musical genius). I could listen to it every day and not get tired of it. I think I did that actually, back in junior high. Reminds me of my first break up--no negative associations though.

19. Mental-Breakdown Scene: "Breaking the Habit" - Linkin Park: Hard driving beat and guitar. The video for this song adds to the song also. A definite sense of urgency. "I hurt much more, than any time before... I have no options left again". "Welcolme to the Jungle" - Guns N Roses comes in at a close second. If you remember the commercials for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, you'd see why.

20. Driving Scene (2 songs): "Everlong" - Foo Fighters & "My Favorite Game" - Cardigans: Of all the songs I've ever played in the car, I don't think I've ever driven as hard and focused as I have with "Everlong" playing. Incredible driving beat. "My Favorite Game" is a close second. Watch the intro movie for Gran Turismo 2 and it fits uncannily well. Definitely a song to race to.

21. Winter Scene: "Clubbed to Death" - Rob D.: The violins in the beginning and the piano at the end make "Clubbed to Death" seem apropriate for winter. I can imagine myself walking through a blizzard or something. As if it snows here in the winter. The bass near the end is a nice touch... sounds like a slow heartbeat.

22. Lesson-Learning Scene: "Liberation" - Outkast, Erykah Badu, Cee-Lo, Big Rube: One of my current top 3 songs. The instrumentation on this one is incredible. It took me a while to really get into this one, but once I turned it up and listened to the 5 or 6 verses, the spoken word part, and then the long instrumental climax straight through, oh man, I couldn't stop playing it. The truth is to freedom as lesson learning is to liberation. Some of the spoken word lyrics: "you can't imagine it... unless you lookin at the canvas of life... and not through the peephole of mortality... Single minded mentality"

23. Falling Asleep Scene: "Watermark" - Enya: My old roommate would play Enya every night when he went to sleep freshman and sophomore year. Usually it would be the "sail Away" track, which I didn't really care for, but occasionally he'd play the rest of the album. This one wasn't cheesy or anything. It's so light and relaxing it could knock you out cold.

24. Deep-Thought Scene: "Air" - Bach: One of my favorite soundtrack songs. One of my favorite classical songs too. This was used in "Se7en" when Morgan Freeman's character was doing some research at the public library and the security guards played this loud on his boombox. It makes me feel smarter.

25. Flashback Scene: "Tomorrow (Sadio)" - Salif Keita: Another soundtrack pull, this one is from "Ali", when Ali runs through the crowd back in the motherland. Very surreal, and the fact that it's mostly in a foreign language makes it a little more dream-like. Forget that he's saying "tomorrow"

26. Party Scene (2 songs): "After Party" - Koffee Brown & "Party Ain't a Party" - Queen Pen, Lost Boyz: Chill party song. Not loud or over the top. Something to groove to. "Party Ain't a Party" has more energy. The horns!

27. Regret Scene: "Bother" - Stone Sour: Thought of this song pretty quickly. Really somber. "I wish I had a reason, my flaws are open season, for this, I gave up trying, One good turn deserves my dying". Soo sad.

28. Happy-Dance Scene: "September" - Earth, Wind and Fire: This reminds me of when I did senior suite for the '03 PCN. Man, best senior suite ever. Good times.

29. Long-Night-Alone Scene: "Creep" - Radiohead: Haha, I sang this one time on Magic Mic and got 100. One Hundred! I put it in for a little comic relief. Dark comedy. Good song though. Emo? Whatever. "What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here"

30. Spiritual Scene: "You May Die (Intro)" - Outkast & "Blessed" - Rachel Lampa: Another interlude, this seems to show the human side of spirtuality. Makes me think of things floating and clouds and whatnot. I've been playing "Blessed" a lot lately. I love the gospel feel. When the choir comes in, with the organ and everything, it takes me back to gospel choir class. "All along the road less traveled, I have crawled and I have run, I have wandered through the wind and rain until I found the sun".

31. Closing Credits: "You'll Find a Way" - Dead Prez: Piano, horn, drum, and bass. The horn is crazy on this one. I play this all the time, especially as an "exit song," something I play as I leave the apartment. Somewhat reminiscent of "Taps", it gives a good sense of closure.

Music Survey Explanation/Justification

So this took a long time, but it was fun. Lot's of lessons and fun hahaha. Enjoy...

Opening Credits: "Dueling Violins" - Lord of the Dance: Do I need to spell this out for you?

Waking-Up Scene: "Welcome to Life" - Matt Maher: Great lyrics about being happy to be in God’s presence. Not sure if I like the beat, a lil hokey, but still fun and God-filled, plus I mean it’s Matt Maher….he’s awesome.

Spring Scene: "When We Meet Again" - G Love and Special Sauce: Awesome song by these guys that is reminiscent of the receding winter with it’s slow melody and slightly sad subject matter. But hopeful which makes it especially cool. Love it.

Average-Day Scene: "Improvise" - Jurassic 5: I love this song mostly cause it’s J5, but also because it reminds me of so many days spent with LOG folk just hoping to think of something less boring than what we are doing right then. It also goes through the members of the “krew” and all their styles which is one of the ways I wish we introduced ourselves to other people……ok not really but cool idea no?

Best-Friend Scene: "If I Had A Boat" - Lyle Lovett: Yes, this is a country song, but I don’t even care because the lyrics are so damn cool. Just talking about taking your best friend out on a boat if you had one (even though my friend wouldn’t be a pony like in the song haha).

First-Date Scene: “Counting to 100” - Matt Wertz: So I’m not sure this song is necessarily appropriate for the FIRST date because it seems a little down and self-deprecating, but I love how he sings about an open-ended relationship, based on the game of hide-and-seek which is one we all engage in with the other sex at some time……ok snap out of it Dr Phil…..

Falling-In-Love Scene: “Butterfly” – Donovan Frankenreiter: Just a good relaxed song about a beautiful woman.

Love Scene: "Kissing You (Love Theme From Romeo + Juliet)" - Nellee Hooper: Just a good old fashioned sappy song.

High Scene: "Caring Is Creepy" - The Shins: So me and Jill both had a hard time with this song because wtf is a “high scene”?? Yea I had to make something up.

Hook up Scene: "Two Princes" - Spin Doctors: I know this is such a lame song, especially for this category, but I think it’s appropriate enough to fit here and I cant find anywhere else that makes more sense. Well I like it!

Sex Scene: “Du” – David Hasselhoff: Ok, this is one of the least sexy songs of all time, but I am nervous enough writing down a song that I would have sex to, let alone a serious one, so please bear with me.

Summer Scene: "Cold Hard Bitch" – Jet: A rockin song that has all the energy of a socal summer night. Ok not that I even know what that means but the song kicks ass. Plus it talks about a cold –hearted bitch!!! What’s not to love????

Fight-With-Friend Scene: "Ball and Chain" - Social Distortion: Social D is really cool and this song is one of their less cool songs but it’s appropriate because its not too hard rock about a subject that even might involve anger also has hurt in it.

Break Up Scene: “Eve, The Apple of My Eye” – Bell X1: This song’s lyrics are some of the greatest of all time. I love it.

Get-Back-Together Scene: "Waiting on an Angel" - Ben Harper: Some of the saddest material of all time. I love the song though. Getting back together would be like waiting on an angel, so it’s also amazingly appropriate.

'Life's Okay' Scene: "Beautiful Day" - U2: Yea I don’t think this song needs explanation.

Fall Scene: "Age Six Racer" - Dashboard Confessional: Yea the first line says it all…..”So long sweet summer”.

Heartbreak Scene: "I Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" - Colin Hay: This song is kind of about heartbreak to me because I thought I had learned it on the guitar and my freakin lil bro walks in and says its all wrong….then figures it out in 5 minutes. Ugh, that’s heartbreakin.

Mental-Breakdown Scene: "Let Go" - Frou Frou: Both this and my High Scene are from Garden State and they both are inspired from that movie’s weirdness. I didn’t know how to address something like mental breakdown, that I haven’t gone through, so I used things that sound/look crazy to me as reference.

Driving Scene: "Glory Bound" - Martin Sexton: A very underrated single-man guitar act. Great driving song with great range…..he sings SO HIGH!! Hahaha.

Winter Scene: "Amsterdam" – Guster: I like how this song is kinda fast, a metaphor of Old Man Winter movin in so fast, and also brisk and clean like the season itself. Fun song from a great band.

Lesson-Learning Scene: "Chocolate" - Snow Patrol: I love these guys! And this song is way better than “Run” which was the one that got radio time. It’s also a great lesson-learning song because it talks about bein a child at 25…..so true for all of us.

Falling Asleep Scene: "Landslide" - Smashing Pumpkins Version: The dream-like quality of this song is what drew me to it for this scene. All about seeing yourself in a hill of snow…..wait maybe trip-out scene is better. Nah jk.

Deep-Thought Scene: "Keep it Loose Keep it Tight" - Amos Lee: His walk over the bridge to the city where he lives are enough to put someone in deep thought. I like the coffee-house feel to his music, that’s what makes it deep in thought for me.

Flashback Scene: “Rain”- Breaking Benjamin: This song is great. I am a sucker for songs in drop-D tuning and this is no exception, it’s so cool sounding!

Party Scene: "Ch-Check it Out" - Beastie Boys: What other party song would a white guy have than one sung by other white guys partying?? I really like Beastie Boys cause they are often as dumb if not more than me, which makes me feel ok about my future cause they’re millionaires.

Regret Scene: "Mr. Brightside" - The Killers: This song is way overplayed but still so brooding and sorrowful, while still rocking out. I think there is a certain amount of remorse for the LACK of action taken in this song also, which is very rarely addressed in this culture so that’s another interesting take on the whole regret aspect.

Happy-Dance Scene: "The Happy Song" – Delirious: Yet another hokey-tuned country song, but this song is powerful in that it invites us to be childlike in our love of God and our praise of Him. We SHOULD dance like morons for Him!!!

Long-Night-Alone Scene: "Imagine" - DJ Numark: I love this remake/version of John Lennon’s classic. It is so relaxed and yet in a hip-hop beat that makes listening near effortless. It’s also different enough that it isn’t just samples remixed, but actually different sounds altogether keeping you guessing a little.

Spiritual Scene: "The Maker" - David Lenoir: "I stand with arms wide open, I've run a twisted line, I'm a stranger in the eyes of the Maker". This line is great cause it chronicles all our struggles to follow His path and to never lose sight of Him. But when we inevitably do, we are strangers to him because of our alienation. I like how it closes on a positive note also with the line "I can't work the fields of Abraham and turn my head away, I'm not a stranger in the hands of the Maker". Soo good

Closing Credits: "Band of Brothers Main Theme" - Michael Kamen: These are actually the opening credits for the mini-series, which is one of the best ever, but I don’t care. The sound is perfect, not too sad but definitely not a cheery song either, leaving it up to the listener to feel both compelled and reflective simultaneously.

The Soundtrack to Keerzy's Life

I'll go first, bc I have nothing better to do. It's gonna be ALL OUT!

1 Opening Credits: "Off The Wall" - Michael Jackson

I love this song! And NO it's not the song that modern used, even though it is. I HATE when people say that. "oh uhh.. isn't that the locking song that kaba uses?!" PFFF! NO. "So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf; And just enjoy yourself; Groove, let the madness in the music get to you; Life ain't so bad at all; If you live it off the wall" That's how I want to approach each day. WOO HOO!

2 Waking-Up Scene: "Hello Tomorrow” – Karen O.

Ever see that Adidas commerial? It's cool. This is the song from the commericial. It just seems to fit. I like it.

3 Spring Scene: "Gasolina" - Daddy Yankee

I couldn't think of anything that fits a spring scene. Actually, I just wanted to put this song in. Hahah.

4 Average-Day Scene: "Street Player” - Chicago

Again, another one of my favorite songs used by those Modern butchers! Ughhh!! No specific reason for this song, i just like it. It's funky. It's got a really good beat. Not the kind of songs you listen to every day.

5 Best-Friend Scene: "Supersonic” - JJFad

This song reminds me of my best friend. We memorized this, it's SO GOOD! I love Jenny.

6 First-Date Scene: "I Love Your Smile" - Shanice

Heheh. This is a good one. One of the first things I notice, is a smile. So, this is my reason for the song.

7 Falling-In-Love Scene: "Falling Into" - Stateless

This song is courtesy of Angie. She introduced me to this one. It's a really good song. And it's not your usual "falling in love" scene.

8 Love Scene: "We Could Be In Love" - Lea Salonga and Brad Kane

I mean c'mon! What's a better way to show a love scene with this song! "It's doesn't take a genius!" I really do like this song. The words can be a little cheesy, but nonetheless a good song.

9 High Scene: "Champagne Supernova" - Matt Pond PA

They played this on an episode of The OC. and that's all. hahaha. It was originally done by Oasis, but I like the cover.

10 Hook up Scene: "Touch" - Omarion

This song makes me wanna dance. I used to not like it, but I do now. It's got a good beat. The lyrics are perfect for this "scene."

11 Sex Scene: "Doin' It" - LL Cool J feat. LeShaun

I mean c'mon! Any Uncle L song is a sex scene song. I just like this one. SO GOOD; yet, SO BAD at the same time.

12 Summer Scene: "Summertime in the LBC" - Doveshack

This song reminds me of summer, for the obvious reasons. "Summertime" helloooo! Buena Park is kinda close to Long beach, no? Just kidding.

13 Fight-With-Friend Scene: "Honest Mistake" - The Bravery

The lyrics fit this theme, and this song is really cool. The drums are really good. It has kind of an 80s feel to it. Actually, all the songs on The Bravery cd are REALLY GOOD. you should "cop" it.

14 Break Up Scene: “Goodbye To You” – Michelle Branch

Is this not a really sad song? When I did the soundtrack the first time, this was also my break up scene. The acoustic version is actually better, but I don't know if I put the acoustic version on my cd.

15 Get-Back-Together Scene: "Somewhere Only We Know” - Keane

Another good song from a really good band. This song reminds me of getting back together, going somewhere where only the two of you know. i like it!

16 'Life's Okay' Scene: "Fix You” Coldplay

Another song from The OC soundtrack. They played it at the end of Season 2 when everything was going really bad. The lyrics are really encouraging. "And the tears come streaming down your face; When you lose something you can't replace; When you love someone but it goes to waste could it be worse?; Lights will guide you home; And ignite your bones; And I will try to fix you"

17 Fall Scene: "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" - Puff Daddy

Again, I didn't really find anything for this one, and i just wanted to put this song in. Reminder: this is the REMIX.

18 Heartbreak Scene: "You Don't See Me" - Josie & the Pussycats

Talk about heartbreak! This has got to be the saddest song IN LIFE! When I first heard this song, I really wanted to cry. A lot. "'Cause you don't see me; And you don't need me; And you don't love me; The way I wish you would"

Wow. ::tears:: but not really.

19 Mental-Breakdown Scene: “Give Me Novacaine” – Green Day

This is a really good song. I especially like it because it's unlike any other Green Day song. The whole American Idiot album is really good. "Drain the pressure from the swelling, The sensations overwhelming,Give me a long kiss goodnight; and everything will be alright; Tell me that I won't feel a thing, So give me Novacaine"

20 Driving Scene: "Passenger Seat" - Stephen Speaks

I hold this song near and dear to my heart. This is a really cute and romantic song, not to mention the acoustic version is HAWT. I believe that this is the ULTIMATE driving scene. The lyrics for this song are SO GOOD.

21 Winter Scene: "I Was A Kaleidoscope” - Death Cab For Cutie

Finding a winter one was tough. I wanted to put a Death Cab song, and this was the closest to a winter song. "I put on my overcoat and walked into winter, my teeth chattered rhythms. And they were grouped in twos or threes like a morse code message was sent from me to me." This doesn't really make sense to me, but it alludes to a lot of winter images.

22 Lesson-Learning Scene: "Move On Up" - Curtis Mayfield

This was originally one of my "Life's Okay" scene, but I think it fits for this one too. If this song seems familiar to you, 1) it was in Bend It Like Beckham 2) it was used in a car commercial 3) K.West sampled it in Testify. It's just slower. I really like this song A LOT!

23 Falling Asleep Scene: "Dreaming of You" - Selena

Hahaha. Again, very cheesy, but it's still a really good song. It's pretty, don't you think? The lyrics are PERFECT!

24 Deep-Thought Scene: "Never In My Waking Life” – Saves The Day

"Im never in my waking life; dreaming is my all the time" I really like Saves the Day. That's all.

25 Flashback Scene: "Back to You" - Goepele

This is a really good song. And the lyrics are good too. I just like this song a lot. The lyrics fit with this theme. "I'm sitting in my room, thinking back on you, memories pass."

26 Party Scene: "Life of the Party" - Jackson 5

This song it so freaking fun. It really makes me wanna break. as in dance. I mean it has the word PARTY in it! This song is so gooooooooood! When I listen to I just dance. SO GOOD.

27 Regret Scene: "Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson

This song is pretty sad. Kelly Clarkson! SO GOOD! I don't have much to say, bc a lot of these are self-explanatory with the lyrics.

28 Happy-Dance Scene: "Hoochie Mama" - 2 Live Crew

Now this is what i'm talking about. What a good song! This makes me wanna dance even more.

29 Long-Night-Alone Scene: "Ghost of a Good Thing” – Dashboard Confessional

This is another good song by a good band. I'm running out of things to say.

30 Spiritual Scene: "Lead Me Lord" - Gary V.

SO GOOD SONG! That's all that's necessary. Neccessary!?

31 Closing Credits: "I Wouldn't Change A Thing" - Coke Escovedo

This is how i would want to live my life. No regrets. "I'd do it all again, if i had to live my life all over."

YAY for soundtrack to my life!
That took a really long time.

For a Limited Time...

Hey y'all, don't worry about the cds. I'll pick up a spindle of 100 and that'll be my contribution for the grand debut of our here monthly exchange.

And here's an idea, let's do a $5 (or however much) buy-in every so often to pick up spindles in bulk and we'll distribute blank cds for every project.

I'm excited!!

Monday, October 17, 2005

hey, i say we all chip in for a stack of 100 or 200 or so... so we'll never run out again! at least until we run out.

Ill give what I have to someone tho and you guys can fight about who gets it. Im having some technical difficulties also, ie when I burn from iTunes it doesnt burn the names and track #s of songs so I will either have to hand name them, or write them out. lemme know if you know how to fix this.....I will have 2 cds with half of my soundtrack on each tmr and the tracks will be hand-written if anyone wants them. see y'all tomorrow
